Branching Out Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Unusually opening on both sides, the fall front reveals typical secretaire features all in very good original condition, and to the rear there are several further storage compartments behind a detachable back panel.
The key is still present which opens both sides. An emblem to front, possibly a later addition, depicting an elephant surmounted by a castle.
