Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the mid-19th century, Victorian estates placed high value on botanical collections and conservatory displays. Jardinieres were decorative vessels specifically designed to house potted plants, foliage, or floral arrangements, serving as focal points both indoors and in formal garden settings.

Heavy cast iron was a dominant material for garden and conservatory vessels due to its durability and ability to capture detailed relief moulds. Other period examples were produced in glazed majolica, stoneware, bronze, or lead.

Authentic period pieces exhibit considerable physical weight, visible casting seam lines from multi-part moulds, and crisp crispness in relief detailing. Natural oxidation, surface weathering, and authentic patina accumulated over decades also distinguish original pieces from modern light alloy reproductions.

An antique jardiniere can be placed on a dining room sideboard, entry console table, or deep window sill filled with orchids, ferns, or dried botanicals. Its weight and classical silhouette provide structural contrast against softer modern textiles.

To prevent excessive rust or oxidisation, keep cast iron in a dry environment or apply a clear microcrystalline wax to protect the patinated finish. If used for live plants, ensure an internal liner is used to prevent standing water from coming into direct contact with the metal.
