Corvidae Antique has dated this piece to the 1960s.
The hinge and clasp are in good working order and there is a safety chain for additional security.

Fully hallmarked for nine-carat gold, Chester 1961, and bearing the C&F mark denoting Cropp & Farr - a London-based jewellery company which was founded in 1917 and went on to make a name for themselves among collectors thanks to the exceptional quality of their pieces. Textured gold and bright gemstones are typical of their eyecatching designs.

Interesting factoid: Chester Assay Office closed its doors in August 1962 and as the hallmarking year at Chester ran from 1 July to 30 June this is among the last pieces to be stamped with a Chester hallmark.
