Description
This fine pair of late19th/early 20th century busts are after noted French sculptor Albert Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824 - 1887). The pieces are exquisitely detailed and depict the head and torso of a maiden, one of whom is turned to the left while the other is turned to the right. The busts have been finished in gilded patination which has acquired a pleasingly weathered appearance, adding to their visual interest. The busts look to have had plaques to the front leading base edge. The pieces are signed to the verso "A. Carrier" in the manner of the sculptor's early works. Large and very decorative and offered in very good condition. PLEASE NOTE - The Art of Quality travel up and down the UK to be able to offer only the finest quality items for sale.
