Corvidae Antique has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
A really fabulous and unique addition to any collection.

The chain came to us in the old box pictured which contained the handwritten message: "This is a watch chain made out of some sort of fibre which Gordon's father brought back from Mesopotamia (I think it's now Turkey) during the first world war 1914-18."

The piece is likely much older than that, dating well back into the 19th century.
In excellent antique condition; there is some wear to the golden surface of the metal dog clip but the straw work is in quite remarkable condition for its age and all pieces appear present and intact.

Although the chain could be worn as a necklace, we recommend it as a collector's piece rather than an item of jewellery to be worn often.
Length: Approximately 17 inches.
The box and the note are included with the chain in this listing.
