This is a really nice mahogany boxed set of bone letters. On the mahogany sliding lid there is a bone inlaid tile with Spelling Alphabet on it.
Inside there are over 80 bone letter tiles with the upper case letter on one side and the lower case letter on the other.
Jane Austen was reputed to have been taught by her mother to learn to spell using a bone alphabet set.
