Magnificent Fern Engraved Revolving Butter Dish C.1880

Description

A wonderful quality revolving butter dish with the domed top beautifully engraved with a variety of ferns, very English and very Victorian.

The dish stands on four highly decorative legs leading down to a Dolphin feet. The underside is where the makers mark G & S EP London for the silversmith, GEORGE GOODFELLOW & SONS of London, EP meaning Electro-Plated.

The lid has a wonderful Ivory button knob to the front to open the lid. The tray within is where the butter would sit with ice beneath to keep it nice and cool.

Elegant and very usable in excellent condition, measuring 9 1/2" handle to handle and 5 1/2" deep (foot to foot) x 5 1/2" tall.
