This unusual astrological calendar clock was designed by John Mercer Of Exeter for the Devon Clock Company as part of the Heritage Collection, this example numbered 31 of 500 and is in excellent original condition.The skeletonised movement is supported by four brass pillars held by a waisted bottom plate, that also holds the astronomical chapter ring at the top, the two train movement runs the timekeeping as well as the calendar, the time is displayed on two rotating silvered drums above a fixed point indicator in the middle of the mechanism, with the top displaying the day and month and signs of the zodiac around a rotating brass sun.
