Description

A beautifully crisp Edwardian sweetheart brooch depicting the sword and post horn of the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, with a silver Yorkshire white rose nestled at the centre of the regimental horn.

Sweetheart brooches and charms were exchanged by soldiers and their sweethearts as good luck tokens before the men left to do battle in Europe during World War One (1914-18).

Marked 15ct on the back. Fifteen-carat gold pieces are not overly common (in the UK only really used between 1854 and 1932) and as this fineness was generally used in high quality pieces, it is attractive to collectors.

The brooch is in excellent antique condition with a sturdy rose gold pin.

Size: approx 4.7 x 1cm.
