Banded inlays to the trunk and base panel with re-entrant detailing. Chamfered trunk sides. Corinthian capped fluted hood columns with brass capped ends. A well proportioned case standing on the original feet. A very attractive and well engraved arched silvered dial. Tempus Fugit to the arch and engraved dial corners, date and seconds dials with blued steel hands. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

John Chaffey of Sherborne is recorded in Tribe and Whatmoors' 'Dorset Clocks and Clockmakers' book as working in 1793 and engraved silvered dials are noted by the maker.
