Brian MacDonald Antique Rugs & Carpets has dated this piece to the 1880s.

The triple 'scorpion' lozenges in the centre of the stunning indigo-blue field are a regular Qashqa'i symbolic pattern and surrounding these are lots of little stylised fish, swimming around water-lilies symbolising happiness - a water-garden design!
The rug is finely knotted and in excellent condition.
Size: 2.52m x 1.45m (8' 3" x 4' 9").
