~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~
A beautifully restrained and chic Empire style portico clock set by the famous maker Japy Freres. It is modelled in crisp white marble with fine ormolu (finely gilded brass or bronze) mounts.
The capitals of the pillars are hung with ormolu chains and topped with marble vases with pineapple finials. The bases of the pillars are decorated with motifs of cornucopia. Candelabra are conforming and have scrolling branches. The dial is white enamel on copper with the most delicate laurel swag criss-cross hands, the design of which is reflected in the bezel.

The French movement is of very high quality and has the Japy Freres 'Grande Medaille D'Honneur' mark on the movement backplate. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. Ormolu pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is very good, ormolu mounts are clean and bright the marble has a good, clean polish. There is some wear to the original gilding and some very slight nibbles to the edges of the marble as well as some slight staining and marks. The dial is in excellent condition with no chips or scratches.

Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
