Four Rosewood Dining Chairs C.1860

19th century
Description

Set of four rosewood dining chairs c.1860. Shapely backrest and rear stiles in solid rosewood with carved detail to the top rail and back stretcher. Loose sprung seat pads in a woven damask with a serpentine fronts over rosewood veneered rails. Raised on cabriole front legs with carved detail to the knees. Maker’s marks to the front rails for Hughes & Co. of Bold Street Liverpool. Some wear to the seats, generally very good condition, solid and sturdy, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
