Description

An original Art Deco pendant with a Blue Morpho butterfly wing set beneath domed glass or rock crystal in a typical 1930s setting. The insect wing flashes vivid electric blue, violet and turquoise as it catches the light. An unusually large and substantial example of this kind of butterfly wing jewellery.

The back is fully enclosed and stamped 925.

We have hung the pendant on a vintage sterling silver 16-inch box chain so it is ready to wear out of the box.

The piece is in excellent antique condition, with hardly any loss of butterfly scales and little abrasion to the surface of the dome. The silver has a lovely patina consistent with the age of the piece.

Size: Approx 5.4cm total drop x 3.2cm wide.
