An early 20thc solid ebony walking stick probably dating to c1920-1930. Being made of solid ebony, It is possibly African in origin or a colonial piece originating from India or Sri Lanka. It has quite a flat but thick handle. The shaft is about 3.5cm near the top. The design is a symmetrical one of several diagonal carved panels curving round the stick, interleaved with two plain panels inset with a channel hinting at bamboo.
The condition is excellent, and being ebony the stick is weighty, straight and super strong. It has a warm rich black/brown colour also typical of this wood.
