Marble Topped Console Table C.1880

19th century
Description

Late 19th.c. marble top console table c.1880. Original and very well figured inch-thick marble top with a shaped and moulded edge. On a carved giltwood base with pierced guilloche frieze and raised on tapering legs with scrolling tops, acanthus leaf detail and particularly good large paw feet. Joined with a shaped stretcher with moulded edges carrying a classical urn finial at the centre. Original gilding with some obvious wear and retouched in places. Otherwise very good unrestored condition
