Description

A spectacular Chinese black lacquered cocktail cabinet. The front having naturalistic on-laid soap stone decoration including flowering sprigs, pheasants, ducks, swallows and other birds in flight with gilded highlights and polished brass lock plate and hinges. The sides with further soapstone and lacquered decoration of fruiting trees with birds. The top doors open to a gilded shaped frame and a single shelf. The conforming lower doors also open to a shelved interior and the whole raised on square brass capped feet joined with shaped stretchers. This cabinet is in excellent condition with no missing parts and has been cleaned and burnished to a very high standard in our own workshops, there is a small square hole in the back of the lower cabinet which probably housed a lighting fixture.
