A Lovely Rare Victorian Walnut Sewing Table.

We bring to you this outstanding Victorian Octagonal base sewing trumpet table believed to be made around C1880 from Walnut.

This table is ideal for the craft type person and will hide all the mess from sewing in an organised manner. Ideal to be placed in any room of any period property and be used as a side or lamp table when not being used for sewing.

The top is inlayed with a round Walnut background, floral Boxwood filigree to outer disk with birds-eye Maple and Satinwood to the centre with circular stringing surrounding. The table has its original working lock with original key. When you unlock and lift the stunning top you will uncover a fitted sewing interior with lidded compartments and a centre padded pin cushion which lifts out to reveal a large storage cavity. The interior is predominantly paper lined with a floral design and material lids to the pin cushions. The Octagonal trumpet base stands on a finely turned pillar going to 3 carved and shaped legs, which are all solid and have no breaks or loose joints. The legs do have some signs of historic woodworm which is no longer active and has been treated and a repair but the table is strong and non compromised.

This stunning table is in a lovely original condition which we have just enhanced by sympathetically waxing this table preserving the lovely original French polished finish with lightly faded original colour and lots of patina.

Please note this item is in beautiful condition for its age as shown in the photographs below however being an antique item it does have the odd bump and repair here and there. However, we feel that these points are which adds charm and character to a piece.
