A York antique William IV sterling silver six sectioned toast rack which is rectangular shape in design with a plain body, rounded divisions to house the toast, a central handle for carrying purposes and resting on four shell feet. This silver toast rack would make a useful addition to a collection and would be perfect to use on the breakfast table. There is a small crest at the base, which is part of the history of this silver toast rack, and each division would hold toast measuring 1.8 cms (0.7") in width. It weighs 7.3 troy ounces (227 grams).
James Barber and William North were York silversmiths and were only registered with the York assay office. As often with York silver, the town mark is that of the crowned leopard's head. (The actual York town mark is very rare.) The crowned leopard's head was not in use in London at this date.
Height: 10.3 cms (4.1")
Length: 16.3 cms (6.4")
Width: 10.5 cms (4.1")
It was hallmarked in York for 1836 by James Barber & William North and remains in excellent condition.
Complimentary postage is included within the price of this silver toast rack.
