A splendid set of 8 early Victorian period mahogany dining chairs by the prestigious firm of Johstone & Jeanes of New Bond Street , London. Of excellent construction in a fine grade of dense mahogany timber. With refined carved detailing and lovely splayed front feet. Offered for sale in excellent condition , replete with lovely upholstery.

Johnstone & Jeanes were makers of fine quality furniture from the formation of their partnership in 1842. Johnstone had been in partnership with Robert Jupe who together patented the metamorphic dining table, but after a falling out Jupe went his own way.

Johnstone & Jeanes exhibited at all the major exhibitions in London in 1851 and 1862 and also in Paris in 1878. The Royal Collection has a piece of Johnstone & Jeanes furniture, a walnut veneered table.
