Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The footboard and headboard feature geometric carved panels and it is supported by turned feet. The whole piece is in a wonderfully mellow coloured oak with good original patina.
The bed is 140cm wide, so would accommodate a double mattress however the rails are only 133cm wide (at the top – 135cm at the sides). So in order to fit a standard UK double mattress you would need a base that either sits inside the rails and is the same level/height as the rails (custom made bases can be bought online) or put a base directly on top of the rails.
No base or mattress included.

Good colour and patina. Solid and sturdy. Finials are later replacements. General wear and marks commensurate with age.
