Mytton Antiques - Jerrard Nares has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The barrel proof marked twice, and topped by a concave sided triangular spring bayonet, with button catch front end, and sliding keep to the rear. The flintlock mechanism holding on two stages, and engraved for the maker 'WALLIS'. The underside with an acorn finial trigger guard, and ringed pipes holding the steel ram rod. The finely hanged grip, before the stock, with a brass butt plate.
Date circa 1780.
