Rare Victorian Silver Cased Opaline Glass Chatelaine Scent Bottle, Circa 1880

Description

This exquisite silver mounted pale blue opaline glass chatelaine scent bottle dates circa 1880. The discoidal body covered with pierced silver casing decorated Beautiful foliate scrolls. The engine turned hinged lid opening to reveal a clear glass stopper. The shoulders fitted with a suspension loops and decorative silevr chain.

Hallmarks:

Unmarked as was very often the case with small scent bottles but tested as silver.

Dimensions:

Height (excluding chain): 5.5cm / 2.1 inches.

Diameter: 4cm / 1.5 inches.

Condition:

Very good.

Glass in excellent condition.

Silver casing in excellent condition. No loss or damage.

Strong hinge.

Complete with stopper.

The top of the hinged lid with some unevenness.
