This is an unusual example of a master factory clock, made in the mid 1900s (1950) by a Swiss company called Inducta. These were retailed in the UK by Londis and GYR LTD in London.
The movement is a well-made dead-beat escapement, possessing an ingenious and reliable self-winding weight driven mechanism. The winding of the weights is monitored by an electric circuit attached to the movement and is triggered to self-wind the weights when they are nearing the bottom of the case.
The dial of the clock is made in an industrial style and has a subsidiary dial displaying true seconds.
Regarding the cylindrical pendulum, the rod is very likely to have been made from invar metal which is very well known for low expansion and contraction rate, often being used due to its accurate time keeping of clocks.
The case is very unusual and more attractive than other industrial, or factory clocks which are usually made from solid wood.
To function, the clock needs to be near an electrical power source. Time in hand will provide the required length of power cable. The customer can choose the colour and style of the lead.
This is an electrically operated item. Working on high voltage and amps and should be handled responsible with due care and attention.
All electric clocks come with a PAT testing certificate
