George III Oak Chest

18th century
Description

George III oak chest

This Georgian feathered oak chest was made circa 1785.

The cabinetmaker selected this timber for its amazing visual effect. Having a fine feathered grain, that gives it a very striking appearance.

The Georgian oak chest is of a great compact size, fitted the usual 2 short and 3 long drawer combination, all graduated in depth as they go down to the bracket feet.

This is a rare piece made of a small size and the unique timber, its colour is like you find on golden honey walnut.

Imagine how good this is going to look in your home, and it can be used in downstairs setting or in a bedroom or landing.

Sometimes timbers with this grain were said to be stressed in an area that sustained constant wind and so were vexed to an extent that is caused ripples in the wood.

84cms wide 33ins

51cms deep 20ins

93cms high 32 3/4ins

All dimensions are approximate, whilst we take as much care as possible, we can be marginally out.
