Gents WW2 Ebel military wrist watch, c1940.

The watch has a 15-jewel Swiss hand-winding movement, the calibre 99 (also called Aurore-Villeret 232) which is working nicely. Aurore-Villeret were watch movement manufacturers with a factory just a short distance from Ebel’s site.

The watch measures 32mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is stainless steel and it is in good condition. There are traces of letters or numbers to the back, looks like the military arrow and and letters, finishing with an S, it may well be that the original military markings were polished out for civilian use. The inside of the case back has the word brevet (patent) and the reference 999901.

The acrylic lens has light marking but is very acceptable.

The signed dial is in its original finish which has now aged into an even tropical finish. Original hands (the luminous paint has been removed at some time in the past), a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
