Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency drum table, also known as a rent table or library table, is a circular table featuring a deep frieze fitted with drawers around its perimeter, mounted on a central pedestal support. Popularised in late 18th and early 19th-century Britain, these tables were designed for writing, administrative organization, and social gathering within library or drawing room settings.

High-grade drum tables from the Regency era were predominantly constructed using exotic timber veneers such as rosewood or mahogany. The circular tops frequently incorporated gilt-tooled leather writing surfaces, complemented by turned timber or brass knobs, oak drawer linings, and cast brass castors.

Authentic Regency drum tables showcase hand-cut dovetail joinery on internal drawer construction, original brass castors, and a tripartite or quadrupiped pedestal base. Genuine rosewood exhibits distinct dark graining patterns, often accompanied by original hand-turned drawer knobs and detailed gold-leaf tooling on the leather surface.

A drum table functions effectively as a structural focal point within a spacious entrance hall, home office, or formal library. Keeping the leather surface uncluttered with minimal decorative objects preserves its functional proportions while accentuating the figure of the timber veneer.

Position the table away from direct sunlight and artificial heat sources to prevent the rosewood veneer from drying or lifting. The leather top should be cleaned with specialized leather care products, while the timber surfaces require regular dusting with a soft cotton cloth and occasional light applications of beeswax along the grain.
