Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in late 18th-century England, the Canterbury was commissioned by the Archbishop of Canterbury as a specialised partitioned stand to hold sheet music and bound folios. Over the 19th century, its design evolved to hold periodicals, books, and loose papers.

19th-century Canterburys were predominantly crafted from high-grade timbers such as mahogany, rosewood, and walnut. Construction typically featured hand-cut dovetail joints on base drawers, turned support legs, slatted timber dividers, and brass castors.

Authentic period pieces display original brass castors, genuine age-related oxidisation on the timber underside, hand-carved turned corner posts, and hand-cut drawer construction rather than machine-made dovetails.

An antique Canterbury functions effectively in modern spaces as a side table beside a sofa or reading chair, serving as refined storage for contemporary magazines, art books, or tablets.

Maintain mahogany by dusting regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to protect the timber and original patination.
