John Beazor Antiques has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The lower part fitted with a writing drawer and a baize-lined adjustable reading-slope, sliding horizontally to reveal a drawer for pens and inkwells; a further metal-lined drawer for a basin and soap dishes is concealed behind two dummy drawers and another deep drawer for bottles and a lower shallow drawer, also behind dummy fronts. The left hand lower drawer contains a commode seat and the right hand with a removeable painted tin liner, both supported on hinged legs. All the drawers have their original brass lion’s mask ring handles and dummy locks with sliding catches. Standing on four square tapered legs with brass box castors. Circa 1820

We deal in 18th and early 19th century furniture, barometers and clocks. We choose our stock for its originality and for the quality of its colour, patination and design.
We are members of the BADA. We do not exhibit at fairs preferring to deal from our Cambridge shop where – in normal times - we hold an Open Weekend every November. We hope to run an event in 2022!
