Antique Oak and Pine Sideboard with Mirror Top

Description

An attractive antique oak and pine sideboard. The antique sideboard has a large rectangular mirror to the top. The sideboard base consists of two fitted drawers, each with brass handles. There are two blind panel cupboard doors below that open to reveal a single fitted shelf. There are decorative pillars to either side of the cupboard doors. Raised on a moulded plinth base. The antique oak and pine sideboard separates into two parts at the mid section for ease of transport and movement.

CONDITION REPORT:

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks, scratches and mild staining to the surface top (pictured). The mirror glass remains intact with no apparent cracks or breaks although there is some foxing/pitting to the mirror. Some evidence of old historic woodworm in places - this is long gone and has been fully treated as a precaution. Structurally solid and sound. The antique oak and pine sideboard separates into two parts at the mid section for ease of transport and movement.

Our carpenter inspects, repairs, and restores our items, so you can have full confidence that what you buy from us is ready for your home!

A mirrored sideboard, often termed a chiffonier or dresser back, emerged in the nineteenth century as a functional storage cabinet featuring a raised rear superstructure with a mirror. These pieces were traditionally placed in dining rooms to display silver and serve food.
