A stunning original French bedside chest.
This chest is originally a bedside pot cupboard (which would have originally been marble lined, since removed) but has been converted to be a useful cupboard. The chest features 2 dummy drawers below a normal drawer to form a cupboard compartment with 2 more drawers to the underside. All 3 drawers are full oak lined dovetailed construction and have book-matched walnut veneer frontages with moulded edges complete with their original walnut turned knobs. The drawers are in good condition, smoothly operating with little to no drawer wear and are very clean inside. This chest is in an outstanding condition featuring its original beautiful lightly faded french polished finish with a lovely rich Walnut colour. We have just carefully cleaned and waxed this chest, maintaining its original patina whilst giving a lovely natural sheen.
Please note; This item is in fantastic condition for its age as shown by the photographs. Being an antique item of this age there are obviously marks, scratches and dents. The marble does have a historic crack to the centre which has been repaired but is still visible upon inspection. However, we feel that these points are which adds to its charm and character to a piece.
