1890 a Wild and Wessel Lamp No: 1373

Description

Circa 1890 a bronze adjustable height oil lamp by the Wild & Wessel Co. Berlin.

The trademark is clearly visible on the front - PATENT WILD & WESSEL BERLIN. On the base are the initials W & W and the number 1373.

The lamp measures 55cm in height, it is approximately 24cm across and the base is 15cm in diameter and it weighs 4.3kgs.

The Wild and Wessel company started by Emil Wild and Wilheim Wessel was based in Berlin in the late 19thC and became well known for the fine quality of their oil lamps.

This lamp was once electrified and has the old lampholder inside the fitting. It is in very good condition, with a tiny ping to the edge of the ring around the lamp holder - see photo 3.
