1880-1900 a Tall Bronze Candle Holder

Description

Circa 1890-1900 An unusual, heavy, tall, painted bronze candle holder, weighing 4.9kgs.

It was probably made to be floor standing, or to hold a candle in a large room or Church. It is in good condition and the paintwork has been designed to highlight the shape and details throughout.

It is a rich dark colour as seen in photos 3 and 6, with the soft cream highlighting the details.

The candleholder measures 59cm in height, the triangular base is approximately 18.5cm and it takes 5cm in diameter candles.

On each of the three sides of the base is an image possibly mythological, or religious, and the legs appear to be bird shaped supported by claw and ball feet.
