Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency furniture, dating roughly from 1811 to 1830, is characterised by classical Greco-Roman, Egyptian, and Empire influences. It frequently features dark woods like mahogany and rosewood, carved scrollwork, polished surfaces, and architectural symmetry.

Regency sideboards and serving tables were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany and veneered with high-grade flame mahogany. Details often included brass mountings, hand-carved elements, and pine or oak internal drawer linings.

Authentic Regency serving tables feature hand-cut dovetail joints, original timber oxidisation beneath surfaces, and hand-carved detailing. The proportions typically follow classical architectural patterns, and structural construction shows hand-tool markings consistent with the period.

A Regency sideboard acts as a striking focal point when set against neutral or deeply saturated wall colours. Modern designers often pair these dark wood antiques with contemporary artwork, minimalist table lamps, or large wall mirrors to balance historical structure with modern elegance.

Maintain mahogany antiques by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth and applying high-quality beeswax twice a year. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent timber movement, drying, or fading of the original finish.
