Pair of Similar Antique Beech and Elm Captain’s Armchairs

A near pair of Victorian antique beech and elm captain’s armchairs or smoker’s bow chairs. The antique captain’s armchairs have shaped arms with turned spindle supports. The solid elm seats have a good grain pattern and are raised on four turned legs with H stretcher supports. Finished with a fresh coat of natural wax. Good colour and patina throughout. Although slightly different, the armchairs make a good, similar pair.

CONDITION REPORT:

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks to the arms and back (pictured) there is also further wear, including age-related splits to the seat (pictured). The antique captain’s armchairs remain structurally solid and sound, with good tight joints. Overall, a good example of two similar antique captain’s armchairs.

Our carpenter inspects, repairs, and restores our items, so you can have full confidence that what you buy from us is ready for your home!
