N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The case is then inlaid to the outside of the front edge which sets the case off beautifully. The back door then has a wonderful round viewing window so that the movement can be seen. Finally the base of the case then has a wonderful shaped moulding leading to the four shaped brass feet to each corner.
The dial is then set out in black Roman numerals with thin rings to the outside marking the minutes as well as Arabic numerals marking every five minutes. The dial is then signed by the maker to the centre “TOMLIN LONDON”. The dial then has two exquisitely shaped hands as well as a domed glass set into a shaped brass bezel.
The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back and is a double fusee example of the upmost quality. The movement is ticking away and chiming as it should and comes complete with its pendulum and winding key. The clock strikes on two bells, one ting tang on the quarter past, two on the half past, three on the quarter to, as well as the number of hours on the hour. The movement also has a fantastically engraved back plate which sets it off beautifully and shows the quality of the movement.
