Victorian Mahogany Tilt-Top Table.

A lovely tilt top mahogany triform table.

We bring to you one of the finest examples of an early Victorian solid Mahogany tilt-top triform base table believed to be made between 1850 - 1860. This lovely table has been cherished and is in fantastic original condition with the original French polished finish and lightly faded colour with lots of patina and charm.

The Mahogany tabletop stands on its substantial tapering octagonal pillar to a large turned disk finishing to a Triform base on 3 finely turned cup feet complete with inset original castors on brown porcelain wheels. Unusually for a tilt top table and as a sign of the condition and quality of this table, there is little to no movement or play in the mechanism of the table as the table is being normally used, the solid mahogany top is flat with no bowing or twisting and the slam latch is working smoothly.

This table has a small overall form yet is versatile from having a round top managing to accommodate up to 4 chairs and be used as a formal dining room or breakfast table. Already not taking up too much room because of this shape, the top tilts upright for storage and is removable with its original slam latch and pivoting table screws (table screws have been replaced at some point in its life but work fine). This item is in great condition for its age as shown by the photographs however being an antique item of this age there may be minor blemishes here and there which adds to its originality and heritage.

We have sympathetically restored this item maintaining original patina by just carefully waxing this item to enhance the French polished surface and preserve it for many years to come.
