A charming Mahogany Ladies Duchess dressing table.
It has been sympathetically restored maintaining original patina, signs of age and has a lovely deep rich original colour and lightly faded French polished finish. We have just enhanced this item by cleaning and carefully waxing this item to give a natural lustrous sheen and preserve and protect the item.
This dressing table features turned finals to the top of the reeded frame mirror with floral carvings to the top complete with its original bevel edged mirror glass with unusually no pitting. The mirror has its original working tilting mechanism which is supported by ornate scratch and scroll floral carved up-stands. These up-stands stand on top of the double jewellery drawer base complete with ornate front scroll carvings to the front edges. The drawers are affixed to the beautiful Mahogany curved front top complete with 1 deep drawer for makeup/jewellery. All of the drawers feature their original finely turned Mahogany knobs. The unit stands on double turned and fluted pillars which stand on a lower shaped open base with 2 more simple back support legs to the rear. The whole dressing table stands on its original solid brass castors on brown porcelain wheels.
Please note this item is in very good condition for its age but will have the odd blemish here and there, for example, the top has a small ink stain and there is a faint ring mark to the left hand drawer unit. We feel that these points are which adds to its charm and character.
