Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A garniture is a decorative matching set designed to adorn a fireplace mantelpiece, popularised during the Regency and Empire periods. Ormolu, or gilt bronze, was combined with patinated bronze and suspended cut glass prisms to reflect and refract candlelight.

These pieces are constructed using mercury-gilded bronze, patinated bronze for contrasting dark elements, and lead crystal or cut glass drops. Plinths and bases are solid cast bronze to support the weight of the metal branches and glass elements.

Authentic period pieces feature sharp hand-chased details in the bronze casting and original fire-gilding that shows subtle wear on raised surfaces. Drops are made from hand-cut lead glass attached with hand-drawn wire pins rather than modern machine-cut glass.

Position a set symmetrically on a fireplace mantelpiece, console table, or sideboard to create a balanced focal point. The contrast between warm gilding, dark bronze, and faceted glass complements both traditional and modern minimalist interiors.

Dust metal surfaces lightly with a dry soft cloth without applying chemical polishes, which strip historical gilding and patination. Clean glass drops separately using warm water and mild liquid soap, ensuring they are completely dry before reattaching.
