Webberley Antiques has dated this piece to the Before 1700 period.
The mirror plate is early and could be the original, it is extremely thick and heavy hand made glass with a typically soft greyish hue. There are some small dark freckles and the back boards appear undisturbed. The crest rail has a later oak brace retaining it in place – probably a late 18th century addition as this has been shaped by hand and is probably the principal reason the crest has remained with its mirror.

A very atmospheric and beautifully original early mirror, the walnut with a well developed rich and natural colour and in fine condition throughout with only minor bruises and a few small losses.
A lovely and rare example.
