Description

We are delighted to offer this fine Georgian silver snuff box made by the renowned Nathaniel Mills of Birmingham in 1833.

Nathaniel Mills is often considered one of the finest small box makers of the 19th Century.

This snuff box features a classical early 19th Century design with a double chased floral border on the top with fine engine-turned decorations on the sides and base.

The interior of the box is fully gilt with a lovely gold-tone accenting the exterior colour whilst adding a layer of protection from the silver tarnishing.

The fairly accommodating size would allow for a fair amount of snuff to be stored within. In the modern-day, one may wish to use such wares practically with pills, medicine or for small items.

A fine quality box with an excellent feel in the hand as to be expected by Nathaniel Mills' wares.

Full English hallmarks are present on both the lid and base of the box.

CONDITION

Good Condition - The snuff box is in good antique condition considering its age with no major damage or issues.

For accuracy: there is a minor split on the wall of the top lid (bottom right corner) and some surface ware as shown in the last photo.
