Victorian Cast Iron Fireplace and Slate Surround.

A lovely Ebonised fireplace in the Aesthetic Movement Style.

We bring to you this one of a kind unusual cast iron fireplace with solid slate surround made around C1860 in the Aesthetic Movement style. This surround has been removed direct from a Victorian farmhouse locally to us. We have just cleaned & polished this lovely fireplace surround, removing old paint residue and bringing the surface to a beautiful sheen. The fireplace features an ornate floral casting complete with its original tiles either side (1 tile has a slight crack which has been repaired). The solid slate surround features its original black Ebonised finish complete with hand painted marbling panels with carved and gilded embellishments surrounding the panels. Either side are 2 beautifully shaped corbels which support the top shelf. The very heavy surround comes apart into 4 pieces for transport but will need to be installed professionally as it needs bonding to the wall.

Please note; This item is in great condition for its age as shown by the photographs however being an antique item of this age there are blemishes here and there which we feel adds to its originality and heritage.
