Description

Charming in every way with its depiction of stylised quadrupeds and even 3-legged creatures!

Made by Afshar nomads in the region of Shahr-e-Babak, Kerman Province, southern Persia circa 1900, the sofreh has a natural camel-hair inner-square and main border and is complete with braided tassels on each corner, indicating that this was a prized sofreh within the tribe.

A similar one can be found in the third edition of my book 'Tribal Rugs - Treasures of the Black Tent' on page 149.
