E. Mottheau of Paris - Gilded Cherub Lamp

19th century
Description

Circa 1880 a heavy gilded brass/bronze lamp with a winged cherub on the side, and signed underneath E. MOTTHEAU and PARIS.

Mottheau was a designer in Paris during the late 19thC and known especially for his lighting.

The lamp measures 37.5cm in height; the base is approximately 11cm and there are three hoof feet supporting the base. The cherub is 20cm inlength and is holding a bow in one hand and the column of the lamp in the other.

It has been rewired professionally and PAT tested, and it weighs 2.2kgs.
