Georgian Cut Lead Crystal Wine Carafe C1820

19th century
Description

An early 19thC Georgian cut lead crystal wine carafe c1820. The carafe has no less than 5 separate bands of different design cutting around the body below the finely step cut neck. Three of the bands have different slice cut panel designs, and two are cut as quartered squares, two quarters being concave and two convex. The handle is notch cut for a good grip and the base is star cut. The cutting is typical of the Late Regency era c1820. There is no stopper and it is doubtful there ever was one, being a pouring vessel. A sparkly piece for the candlelit dinner table!
