Description

An enchanting silver, enamel and tortoiseshell box from the Art Deco era, with clear hallmarks for Birmingham 1931 and maker’s mark for Horton and Allday. This box has everything going for it in a tiny space. Beautiful French or cobalt blue plain enamel lid top, mirror inside the lid, tortoiseshell base, all inset into the silver body, and also with the original tiny pale blue powder puff. This could have been a powder box intended for the handbag or purse.. The box is hallmarked on the base and the lid. There is slight tarnishing on the edges of the mirror, to be expected. All other parts are in excellent condition. Though small, this is an exquisite piece.
