Victorian Walnut Writing Desk by Jas Shoolbred & Co.

A rather good antique Victorian walnut writing desk by ‘Jas Shoolbred & Co.’ The antique walnut desk has an inset green leather writing surface, with a central scrolled lid compartment, flanked by four small drawers surmounted with solid brass galleries. The Victorian antique writing desk has an arrangement of nine drawers over and around the central kneehole, each with brass drop handles. Raised on eight turned legs. A wonderful colour, and carved decoration throughout. Maker’s mark to the inside of the central drawer.

CONDITION REPORT:

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks and scratches to the surface top (pictured), and tears and losses to the leather inset (pictured). There is further wear to the front, including marks and dents to the kneehole and drawer frames (pictured). The Victorian antique writing desk remains structurally solid and sound, with the compartments and drawers running well. Overall, a great example.
