Antique Silver Plated Equestrian Inkwell - Horseshoe C.1900

1900 - 1920
Sold by Puckerings
Description

A charming little individual inkstand made from silver plate and dating to the late Victorian era, around 1900.

The silver plated stand is in the shape of a horseshoe and stands on it's original four ball feet, the underside is marked N (butterfly) S, so I think either continental or perhaps American in origin. The back of the stand is mounted with two riding crops which would accommodate a small dip pen. The crystal inkwell is mounted with a horseshoe shaped top which flips up to dip one's pen and then drops shut to keep to prevent the ink drying out. The front of the inkwell is cut-out just like a horse's hoof.

Charming in every way and in excellent condition, the base measuring 3" x 2 1/2" and stands 3" tall to top of riding crops.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
