Bust of Christ with the Sacred Heart C.1930

1920 - 1940
Description

Early 20th.c. ceramic bust of Christ c.1930. Head and shoulders length bust of Christ with eyes raised to heaven, depicted with long flowing hair and a distinctive forked beard. On his chest and highlighted in gold is the devotional symbol of the Sacred Heart. Further gilding to the neckline of the robe and in a broad band around the base. Signed G. Parentani on the rear of the bust. Raised on a separate shaped elm plinth with lovely applied brass frieze with repoussé floral detail. Excellent condition.
