A 7 Drawer Victorian Deal Collectors Cabinet by Harrods of London. Circa 1890

Description

This super victorian seven drawer stained and polished deal collectors cabinet was originally supplied by harrods of london and was designed to accommodate a collection of birds eggs.

Birds egg collecting, or oology, was a very popular pastime in this period. The drawers are graduated and contain removable frames, each compartment would have housed an egg but could be used today for a multitude of collectables. The frames merely lift out so can be stored and the cabinet used for larger objects.

The list of potential uses is long, coins, medal, watches, jewellery, minerals, fossils etc, etc.

Height. 22 inches.

Width. 17 and three eighths inches.

Front to back. 14.25 inches.

Drawers.

Width. 15 inches.

Front to back. 9.25 inches.

Internal usable depths.

1. One and one eighth inches.

2. One and three eighth inches.

4. One and seven eighth inches.

5. Two and one eighth inches.
